JOAN OF ARC...

Saint? Witch? Holy warrior? Agent of the devil? Lucky peasant? Adolescent prophet? 15th century mystic? God sent? Whatever the case, at seventeen years old Joan of Arc remains the youngest supreme military commander (male or female) in history.

Her story attracts Catholics, Protestants, and nonbelievers alike. Her well documented accomplishments are universally accepted. But the question remains: HOW was she able to save France during the 15th century? Joan, for her part, always claimed that she was sent by God. But could this really be true? Although much has been written about her, no scripturally based examination of her case has been recorded. Until now.

Witch? Saint? Agent of the devil? Holy warrior? Accused of being the devil's pawn in 1430, Joan of Arc was eventually burned at the stake for witchcraft. But was she really a witch? At seventeen years of age, she remains the youngest supreme military commander (male or female) in history, and the most attested person up to the sixteenth century. Her well documented accomplishments are universally accepted. Her story attracts Catholics, Protestants, and non-believers alike. But HOW was she able to save France during the 15th century? After all, women's rights weren't exactly in the forefront at that time.

For Joan, the answer was never complicated. She was sent by God. And not just any god, but the God of the Bible. Could this really be true? If so, then there is much to learn from her story. In Joan of Arc and the God of the Bible-THE WITCH THAT WASN'T, author Chris Snidow examines the many parallels and similarities between Joan and the prophet/saints of the Bible, providing striking and undeniable evidence between these powerful witnesses for God. Her prayer-centered life, humble spirit, interactions with God's messengers, bold actions, love of God, unlikely but consistently fulfilled prophesies...these are all traits seen in the great prophet/saints of Scripture. Joan was the game-changer of her era. After her, France would forever be free of the English, and take its influential place in European history.

People have wrestled with the supernatural aspects of Joan of Arc's case for centuries. But here and now, during this time of increasing New Age spirituality, Mr. Snidow's scripturally based examination reveals Joan as a powerful witness for the God of the Bible. Although accused of witchcraft, she proved to be the witch that wasn't!
This book first appeared in 2006 under the title Joan of Arc and the God of the Bible. A French version followed in 2009. In 2013, the Revised and Expanded Edition came out, full of numerous additional quotes, examples, references and information. This latest edition, THE WITCH THAT WASN'T, was released in March of 2015, and provides still more fascinating new information, while keeping the reader-friendly approach.

Thank you for your time, and Blessings to you,

"Excellent work; nothing like it! Very interesting; FIVE stars (out of five).  Having been an admirer of Joan of Arc for many years, this book interested me.  I have seen no others like it.  Excellent study of Joan in relationship to the Bible.  He makes a very strong case for her being sent by God, using frequent Bible quotations to make his points.  Easy to read and keeps your attention.  Well researched, and written.  If you are interested in either Joan or God, then I HIGHLY recommend this book."  ReviewScout.co.uk, an English book review organization --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Joan of Arc and the God of the Bible?

This book is a fascinating read! I have thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Joan of Arc and now see how she has been a neglected figure among Protestants especially. Her life as revealed in this book is an inspiration and she is a true hero of the faith. What a fascinating figure! S. Michael Craven, President of the Center for Christ & Culture, www.battlefortruth.org

Wow. Very impressive! The Rev. Josh Acton, St Luke's Episcopal Church, Dallas, TX

A great success! This is not your typical Joan of Arc book, one full of scholastic, boring pretentiousness. Rather it is an easy read and carries you along like a good detective story. The parallels between Joan and the prophets are great! The author thus makes accessible to everyone the story of Joan of Arc, her personal development, and her feelings. This serious book has a sense of humor to it also, and so spurs the reader on to read it to the very end. Father Claude Girault, Rector of the Cathedrale Sainte Croix, Orleans, France

I found this book very inspired, luminous, readable and enjoyed it very much it makes you want to read it to the very end and it speaks to the young people of today. Father Mengin, Former Recteur of the Saint Joan of Arc Basilique of Domremy, France

Fabulous! Refreshing! I love the way this book was written. The author knows his subject very well. This is the first time I have read a book that speaks both about the Christian faith and French history! Noelle Legue , Paris, France

This book is excellent! Brian Morgan, Park Falls, Wisconsin, USA

it's so reader-friendly a work of Bible scholarship that reveals Joan's life as relevant today as it was hundreds of years ago. Kathryn Harrison, New York Times bestselling author and a frequent reviewer for THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW; her essays have appeared in THE NEW YORKER, HARPER'S MAGAZINE, VOGUE, O MAGAZINE, SALON, and other publications.

Highly recommended! Chris Snidow's book, Joan of Arc and The God of the Bible is fascinating! Irrespective of whether the reader is Catholic, Protestant, or agnostic, I believe that their understanding of Joan of Arc will be greatly affected by this book, if not entirely changed her personal testimonies, well documented throughout the text, coupled with the author's unique insights, shed light on one of the most mysterious and intriguing characters in European history 5 stars (out of five) from Amazon.com reviews. Terence Moeller, author of Dramas of Kalalau

I read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. The parallels between the Bible, Joan of Arc and the prophets are very interesting. This book is a wonderful success. Jacques Lecat, lawyer, le Touquet, France

Chris Snidow has created a wonderful book that explains Saint Joan's life in reference to Jesus and the Bible. Chris has done an amazing amount of research about Joan and how her life closely resembles other prophets of the Bible like Moses, Abraham, Paul, and even Jesus. I highly recommend this book as one that everyone should read who is serious about learning the truth about Joan's true motivation. There are many biographies that cover the life of Joan of Arc but Chris approach is unique in that he focuses on explaining HOW Joan of Arc was able to do what she did it is well written and flows easily along in the 15 chapters in the final analysis, this book is as much about God as it is about Joan of Arc, which is exactly how is should be since Saint Joan of Arc is truly a shining star that points the way to the Father of all light. 5 stars (out of 5) from Amazon.com reviews. Ben D. Kennedy, author of Maid of Heaven, www.maidofheaven.com , Kentucky, USA

I was impressed and intrigued with his unique perspective as he carefully explained the many similarities between Joan and the Prophets of the Bible his writing style is easy to read, very interesting, and informative. I highly recommend this book Virginia Frohlick, President of the Joan of Arc Center, Albuquerque, New Mexico, www.stjoan-center.com

Chris Snidow gives us a very well documented work. Not only is it an in-depth study of Joan of Arc, but also one on both the New and Old Testaments, the comparisons used from Mr. Snidow's well-chosen and documented texts command their own attention...(he) brings to life Joan of Arc's story in an unprecedented and original way(and) is well placed to reveal to us Joan's true mysticism. Having worked some 30 years as a psychiatric Registered Nurse in several psychiatric hospitals and settings, he is well trained to perceive the difference between the pathological and the normal.Marie-Veronique Clin, co-author with Regine Pernoud of Joan of Arc - Her Story, (available in French and English) and many other books on Joan of Arc and the Middle Ages.

I took my time reading your book, taking only a few pages in any one reading. My compliments, Sir! Thank your for an exceptionally well researched and thought provoking work. Russ Asson, Huntsville, Alabama

I found this book very well organized and researched, the style is quite a relief from the scholarly approach used by so many books on Joan Bill Harper, Dallas, TX USA

Obviously with the title Chris has used, it is no surprise that the book delves into the spiritual aspects of Joan's life I would highly recommend this book to anyone searching to know more about Joan's inner strength. 5 stars (out of 5) from Amazon.com Steven R. Kanehl

Congratulations. This is a great book that shows to all just who Joan of Arc really was. It was a pleasure to read it. Clara Lauberlah, Author for the young, Paris, France
